EZ Fitness App and Website
My Role: I was the lead UX designer and researcher, wearing all the hats to really understand the full process.
Goal: This app and website is made to simplify fitness technology to optimize motivation for the user without overwhelming the user with too many features.
Research: Unmoderated usability studies were conducted at various stages of the design process.
Users: People who want to get into fitness without all the bells and whistles which can create a barrier to access for some. Most users would be between the ages of 18 and 75.
Wireframes and Prototypes
Working on both an app and a responsive website seemed daunting. I started with a mobile first approach and prioritized the app to be designed first. I started designing those wireframes and prototypes first before moving on to the website designs.
Working With a Design System
I chose to use and customize elements of Material Design to help my designs fit some of the expected standards within the UX design community. It really helped to polish my designs while keeping everything consistent across all pages within the app and the website.
Room for Improvement
I spent a lot of time figuring out and implementing Material Design which I think was a great resource to use and took my design to the next level. However, I think I could have gone further to make this technology more accessible by designing a tutorial of how to use the app.
